Most of my life was spent attending a different church in Odessa, but I have been a member of Odessa Christian Faith Center for probably seven years. I started attending when I was probably 16 yrs. old and my life has not been the same sense. The first thing that caught my attention when becoming involved with the youth ministry at such a young age was that I really felt apart and like I was more than just a "another member added." OCFC staff and leaders go out of their way to not only make you feel welcomed but to also show that they truly do care about your spiritual, physical, and mental well being. This church and the pastors are not just about numbers (Yes, of course number is in souls being saved) but they want everyone to live the life that Christ has died to give us. My mom left our old home church that she had probably attended for almost 50 years after seeing the change in my brother and I. She was amazed that at such a young age we were actually excited to go to church and learn about Christ when most kids at that age would have other interests. Pastor Don teaches the gospel of Jesus Christ every Sunday. He reminds us every chance he gets of who we are in Christ and that we are righteous. He is not judgmental at all and he welcomes anyone and everyone. Not only is the youth ministry amazing but also the young adults ministry (which I now attend) and children's ministry. I am still very young and learning my way through a lot and I am so blessed to have a church where I can go and be around other believers my age (young adults) and be encouraged as we all face some of the same trials/struggles. Ocfc also caters to non-English-speaking members and offers Spanish translation during their services. I know that no church is perfect but this one truly is close and the leaders/staff exemplify a ministry of excellence. If heaven is anything like this then I can't wait!
